Ciao (pretty much the only word I know in Italian, I'm clearly going to do great there).
So, this again. It all started when I went to China 5 years ago around this time of year with my father, uncle, and cousin. I wrote a journal everyday while I was there, telling my family and friends all about my great adventures. Looking back at those journal entry's, I haven't changed a bit. I thought this would be a great way to document my trip while filling everyone in at the same time.
The preparation for this trip was honestly overwhelming and stressful. I mean how exactly am I supposed to know how to shop and pack for a month. The clothing shopping happened to be fun, buying a minimal amount of clothing while making sure you can form enough outfits for about 30 days, challenge accepted. I'm not saying you're going to love the outfits I decided to put together (I'm going for a man repeller meets Italy meets breaking all the rules type of look) it'll be fun. The toiletry shopping on the other hand was my kind of hell, all stressful. Obviously I had to pack about 10 times, including the all nighter before my flight, until it was perfection.
My mom dropped me off to the airport and I checked in myself, I was impressed with myself. Once I made it through security I was walking towards the gate and my face broke out in a smile from ear to ear realizing that I am finally going to be able to do what I've been begging my parents for since freshman year of highschool. Honestly it was embarrassing, walking by myself with a huge smile...awkward. Once we got on the plane and said our goodbyes, we got excited it's happening. I took 2 NyQuil's so I'll be asleep in no time. In the mean time I'm enjoying the classic movie, "Manhattan". Goodnight all, I'll write tomorrow about my first day in Rome.
[FRIDAY-MAY 29.2015]
So, our first day in Rome was exhausting. When you get off the plane it's probably not a great idea to walk the entire city. We checked into our hotel (Hotel Savoy) and bought SIM cards. Then we went out to explore the town. It's always difficult to navigate around a new city but now we officially know Rome. We unknowingly explored the entire town and figured out how to get around. We had Lunch at the top of the Spanish Steps at Vovecento. I got pasta but it definitely didn't live up to my expectations of pasta on Italy, but it didn't look like such a great place either. Then we hung at the top of the Spanish Steps for while, amazing view. Then we walked around and hung at the steps near the Capitoline Hill. Once we were done with our adventures we went back to our hotel and ended up conking out before Shabbat even started. We decided to stay in that night and skip dinner so we would be refreshed for the next day. (Shabbat Shalom 8:18pm-9:27pm Rome,Italy)
